ArchitectureWorks Projects Honored at 2025 AIA Birmingham Design Awards

ArchitectureWorks is proud to share that two of our recent projects were recognized at the 2025 AIA Birmingham Design Awards. Both projects reflect our commitment to building with care, intention, and respect for place.

The Gulf Coast Ecocenter, a collaboration with WATERSHED, received the evening’s Honor Award in the Small Projects category. The jury unanimously selected this project, calling it, “an outstanding example of practicing what you preach that inspires us to build durably by treading lightly and quietly. The passive design harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding ecosystem.”

The Kayser/Samford Community Commons at Indian Springs School, designed in partnership with Lake|Flato, received a Citation Award. Created to support student life through a strong indoor-outdoor connection and abundant natural light, the building’s expressive roof form and material clarity stood out to the jury. They highlighted “the extended overhangs and the way the tiered roofs slide into the sky,” and noted the “combination of the structural expression with the care for the acoustics and lighting.”

Thank you to AIA Birmingham and the jury for this recognition!
