Client: Lake Pavillion

One hundred and fourteen year-old loblolly pines are given a new purpose after a full life located on an area golf course. Machine-milled and hand-finished trees become the massive columns for this outdoor pavillion, extending the living space for this lakefront house. The rough, debarked surfaces of the trees face outward to the surrounding trees, while on the interior, the milled and burnt faces present a more refined and finished appearance. Though this room is oriented with views towards the lake, the pavillion was located so as not to obscure the views from inside the existing lake house. The large, reclaimed wood trusses that form the roof structure echo the same construction of its neighbor. This, combined with the stone fireplace and hearth, ensure that the outdoor room may be enjoyed in all seasons.
