On a busy corridor in Cahaba Heights, Alabama, this development is conceived as an assemblage of outdoor rooms connected by interior spaces. Three tenants occupy the property – a bagel shop, a garden shop, and a restaurant. The garden shop creates an extraordinary garden that extends the other buildings’ outdoor spaces. Customers are encouraged to enter the site from both the parking area and the pedestrian sidewalk along the street, giving the buildings four-fronts and challenging delivery and back-of-house logistics. These are accomplished through integrated screening of service yards and remote trash disposal. One final advantage of the building organization is the natural light prevalent throughout the interior of the buildings from all sides.
