The owners of this residence wanted to have a connected house and barn. Surrounded by horse pastures, the barn-residence looks out over a hunter-jumper arena. The main level of the project is a barn with wash-rack, tack-room, feed-room and eight stalls. A large cupola and clerestory dormer windows flood the wide barn aisle with natural light. On the upper level a three bedroom residence has views out to the surrounding pastures and riding arena. A large porch at the main level provides outdoor living space and a viewing stand for the arena.
A heavy timber structure combined with reclaimed brick and cedar shingles wrap the exterior while tongue and groove decking skin the ceilings inside the barn. Tractors and farm equipment are housed in a separate shed structure that is clad in wood boards to match the main building.
